Antique Texas Cedar Essential Oil

$ 42.30

DescriptionEnergetic Profile: Grounding. Brings a certain depth, solidity and stability coupled with a definite aliveness. It seems to wake something up within the physical, emotional bodies as if the stories it’s witnessed are triggering the ancestral stories within the person smelling it. A unique aromatic treasure.Smell: The first notes are reminiscent of that typical cedar signature. It is followed by a length and texture that lingers in the middle phase both in terms of scent and body, but also energy. There is an antiqueness and aged quality to the smell too that blends with both a sparkly aliveness and a smoothness. Not surprisingly it reminds one of walking into an old, log cabin. In summary: ancient, deep, cigar box like, juicy, powdery, soft, rounded.Perfumery Note: base note (extremely long duration)Main Chemical Constituents:  α-pinene, β-pinene, δ-3-carene, sabinene, myrcene, β-phellandrene, limonene, and D-germacrene (1) Because of the age of the wood, the constituents may be different, but we haven’t done GC/MS on this sample.Adulteration and quality: We distilled this essential oil from ancient texas cedar trunks. The raw material had a high level of dryness with a surprisingly strong aroma.Distiller’s Notes: The trunks we distilled were from a 150 year-old log cabin in Texas and the trees were at least 100 years old when they were cut down. The uniqueness of this distillation is rooted in the unusually long drying period and holds symbolic value, not just of the tree itself but in the story of the pioneers who built the cabin using this very wood. It witnessed a world for a hundred fifty years as it held the roof of the cabin up, and now this unrepeatable distillation has captured the essence of the tree and its story. ReferencesAngioni, Alberto, et al. “Chemical composition of the essential oils of Juniperus from ripe and unripe berries and leaves and their antimicrobial activity.” Journal of agricultural and food chemistry 51.10 (2003): 3073-3078.
